New residential tower in Taipei

Our design for the new 14-story residence in Taipei began with a single question: what does it feel like to live in a building designed around light?

Set along Daan park in the heart of Taipei, the 3,464 m2 building is shaped by light, atmosphere, and quality. Inspired by Henning’s original design approach, each new home faces south looking out across the park.
The 46 south-facing residences are each served by generous, full-length balconies which provide effective natural shading, essential in Taipei’s subtropical climate to reduce heat gain and dependence on air conditioning. Inclined soffits shade the interiors from the high midday sun, while low morning and evening light filters freely through — never compromising daylight or open sky views.

Natural stone in pale tones brings thermal stability and durability to the façade; champagne-toned metalwork at the soffits and balustrades catches the light as it shifts across the day. The angled geometry of the balcony walls casts shadows that move with the sun — a consequence of how the building performs, and one that gives the façade its character.
Inside, residences are designed to maximize daylight exposure, with framed park views bringing the presence of nearby nature to compact urban living . At ground level, landscaped gardens connect residents to the park beyond. At the top of the building, a rooftop sanctuary offers something rarer still in a dense city: open sky, greenery, and quiet — a place to be outside without leaving home.
Northern Lights is developed by the Continental Development Corporation. Homes go on sale from the 1st of May.
