What brought you to Henning Larsen?

I was drawn to Henning Larsen as I was seeking a work environment that would maximize my professional abilities while also allowing me to work on innovative and interesting projects. I knew that Henning Larsen had a strong team working within Research and Innovation (R&I) and a data-driven approach to design that aligned with my own ideas, making it the ideal studio for me.

What do you enjoy most about working at Henning Larsen?

I enjoy the collaborative environment where everyone's voice is heard and valued. We work on exciting projects that strive to make a difference and add a unique edge. Not only do I continuously satisfy my curiosity and grow as a professional, but I also have the support of an amazing team, which inspires and motivates me every day.

What motivates you in your work?

I am especially motivated by working alongside tremendously passionate, creative, and skilled colleagues. This drives my desire to contribute at the same level and feels incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that I can bring useful knowledge and skills to the table is highly rewarding

Which projects are you particularly proud of?

As part of our team of computational designers and engineers, who assist on various projects simultaneously, I take pride in every moment I bring value to a project team. I am proud every time I see the team absorbing new knowledge that will help with project development.

Beyond specific projects, I am also extremely proud of our internal course called 'Design with Microclimate.' This initiative, which began as an idea during my internship, recently became a reality. Engaging my colleagues from various backgrounds in discussions about one of my favorite topics is particularly satisfying. And receiving positive feedback has been a highlight, reaffirming the importance of knowledge-sharing in a global company.

For the MCI Management Center Innsbruck Diego took part in designing a smart façade in order to control the sometimes harsh alpine sun. The animation shows the solar radiation studies together with the sun's path. Knowing how much radiation the building receives helps define the dimensions and shapes of the shading elements. In this way the team could optimize the façade by keeping the radiation under control and adapt the shading elements depending on their orientation. Sora, 2021

Looking back on your time with Henning Larsen, how have you grown in your role and developed your skillset?

I am always impressed by the rapid integration of interns into workflows and the significance given to their contributions. My experience was no different. As an intern, I was fully engaged in projects from day one, and my work was valued for its active contribution, not just production.

The diversity of projects I participated in was vast and motivating, requiring quick adaptation to different contexts and cultures. Projects like the Quayside high-rise development in Toronto's waterfront, the MCI campus in Innsbruck, and our proposal for the Prague Philharmonic were just the beginning.

Today, as a full-time computational design engineer, I focus on sustainability aspects, feeling an increased sense of responsibility and self-confidence. In the R&I team, we are all allowed to engage in topics we are passionate about, giving our best for the benefit of the entire team.
