What brought you to Henning Larsen?
As a client of the Bishan Park project, I knew about the capabilities and ethos of Henning Larsen and felt they aligned with my values and beliefs as a designer. That, in addition to the project, Mandai West, attracted me to the studio.
What do you enjoy most about working at Henning Larsen?
I enjoy being part of a community that takes its responsibility to change the construction industry seriously.
What motivates you in your work?
I genuinely believe that we - as architects, landscape architects and urban designers - can make a difference in the world.
“The people culture at Henning Larsen is what had influenced me most — curiosity at all levels, the respect for each other, and design excellence.”
Which projects are you particularly proud of?
I am particularly proud of Mandai West, a project connecting two truncated nature areas to allow a seamless passage for wildlife while at the same time linking visitors and the attractions with an amazing public node complete with a natural-looking 10m waterfall.
I find Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay also remarkable for invigorating the dated interior of a hotel by John Portman with greenery — bringing a forest into what used to be terraces for water features overcoming the structural and lighting constraints through technical innovations.
The Lim Chu Kang Masterplan is another one to highlight as a bold project realized from a fruitful collaboration with the Singapore Food Agency where we prioritized designing for a more resilient food future.
Looking back on your time with Henning Larsen, how have you grown in your role and developed your skills?
While the projects mentioned above would bring joy to any designers, it is my growth in people development that I would look back with a sense of achievement and pride. The people culture at Henning Larsen is what had influenced me most — curiosity at all levels, the respect for each other, and design excellence. At the end of the day, successful projects are achieved by the people, by the team.
