The project evolves around six key themes: infrastructure, regional planning, architectural and urban planning, landscape planning and governmental steering systems. Using specific strategies within these key areas the ambition has been to unfold a series of untapped holistic and sustainable potentials for the city.
An important criterion has been to find solutions helping the Nairobi region to adapt to global climate change. The competition proposal aims to reorganise the city to make it more sustainable by means of wind, solar and water power. In addition, the project includes a number of suggestions for waste treatment and drainage.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Niras Consultants and local partner ETC.
