Ringsted Upper Secondary School

Educational

5/21

The first stage of the school is placed as a two-storey high building along the road, Næstvedvej, to shield the campus area against the road traffic. Against Næstvedvej, a hilly landscape will be laid out by using excavation residues from the building site. The hills will be sown with grass and a forest of willow trees will be planted.

The school will be accessed from the campus square towards the west through the central common space that will link together study areas, teaching sections and teachers’ facilities. Circulation between the ground and first floors will take place in the double-high multi-room that will function as a gathering point, cafeteria and study area.

The first stage of the school will consist of two parallel classes at all levels and will house a total of 180 students and 16 teachers. With its mixture of open and more isolated rooms for group work, the building is designed to meet state-of-the-art ideas regarding student-activating teaching. When stage two is completed, the school will consist of five parallel classes at all levels.
