Lars Steffensen

Lars Steffensen has been Partner and member of the management team at Henning Larsen Architects since 2002. He is responsible for the company’s healthcare and research related projects. Lars has many years’ experience with large hospital and research projects in most of Scandinavia and a profound knowledge of the complexity characterising these types of buildings - from the preliminary analyses to completed hospital or research centre. In addition, Lars has a special ability to combine the often heavy technical solutions with great attention to architecture and its details, materials and daylight.

Lars’ professional experience – not least in the healthcare area – as well as his ability to seek new knowledge and apply it in an architectural context have made him a sought after lecturer and professional judge. He was in the judging committee in connection with the selection of an architect for the new university hospital in Skejby. In addition, Lars has been a lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, for a number of years.

Experience

Experience

In addition to healthcare projects, Lars has extensive experience with cultural and educational buildings and masterplans. He has been responsible for the preparation of numerous competition entries as well as the concept development, detailed design and completion of selected projects.

From the project was won in an international competition, Lars was responsible for the Radium Hospital in Norway, which is the country's central cancer treatment and research institution. The project consists of two buildings: A radiotherapy building with treatment and examination rooms and a research centre featuring world-class laboratory facilities for both research and patient treatment. Recently, Lars has been responsible for a number of extensive hospital competitions, including the New Odense University Hospital, Herlev Hospital and Gødstrup Hospital.
