Jacob Kurek

Jacob is a Partner in Henning Larsen Architects and Principal of the company's subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, Henning Larsen Middle East. Stationed in Riyadh since 2008, he is responsible for the company’s projects in the Arabian Peninsula. From his more than six years of involvement in projects in the Middle East, Jacob has vast experience of developing locally adapted projects – from innovative concepts and building designs to master plans and complex urban structures. In 2010, Jacob was nominated as one of the top 5 most influential architects in Saudi Arabia.

Experience

As Principal of Henning Larsen Middle East, Jacob's main focus is on business development and the design of urban planning and large-scale architectural projects. In addition, he has been responsible for a number of international competition entries. Jacob has a clear overview and a sound understanding of the nature and functionality of the city, not only including reflections of volume, environment, density and scale but also as regards the mixture of different typologies and the public realm.

Jacob has vast experience of collaborating with large international teams. On the King Abdullah Financial District project in Riyadh, he has been responsible for the overall design across the various disciplines. Jacob is a member of the client's design review committee reviewing all the projects in the master plan in order to ensure consistency and homogeneity throughout the masterplan.
