Competent team behind Norwegian Super University
Experience and strong competencies in university and educational building were decisive factors in the selection of Henning Larsen Architects and a team of specialists as winners of the competition for a 67,000 m2 university and research campus in the scenic countryside of Aas on the outskirts of Oslo.

The campus area already features the old preservation-worthy buildings today housing the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. In the new Campus Aas, the university will be merged with the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (NVH) and the National Veterinary Institute of Norway (NVI), currently both located in Oslo, in new modern facilities.

The winning team has a long history of cooperation. Henning Larsen Architects has previously cooperated with Multiconsult, NNE Pharmaplan and the Norwegian architecture company Økaw on the national cancer hospital and research centre of Norway, which opened in 2006 and 2009, respectively. The team also consists of Hjellnes Consult and the landscape architects LINK Signatur.

”A number of architectural, functional and technical issues should be considered in connection with a research and university building of this calibre. In the project team, we have looked into and analysed which competences are necessary to solve the task”, tells Anders Sælan, architect and associate partner, Henning Larsen Architects. “The project group has vast international experience and specialised knowledge and the Norwegian partners will help to ensure that the project is adapted to the local context.”

The competition was a tender competition where nine teams were assessed on the basis of quotation, insight into the project and quality. To begin with, the winning team has been offered a contract for the sketch and outline plan. The construction phase is planned to begin in 2015 and the campus is expected to be inaugurated in 2018.

Scandinavian Golf Club nominated for LEAF
The Scandinavian Golf Club is located in the beautiful, hilly landscape of the previous Farum military barracks. The building has a light and sculptural expression and is built of fine, sophisticated materials to ensure a unique balance between the architecture and the surrounding landscape. The Scandinavian Golf Club won the annual award of the Copenhagen Carpenters’ Guild in 2009 and has now been nominated for the international LEAF Award 2010. The project is also featured in this month’s issue of the architectural journal, Arkitektur.dk.
