Louis Becker 50 years

He graduated from the School of Architecture in Aarhus in 1989 upon which he was employed at Henning Larsen Architects only a few weeks after his graduation. In 2005 he was appointed Design Director with the responsibility for design and international projects. He has been the driving force in a number of national and international projects.

In February 2011 Louis Becker was elected member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and in 2008 he was appointed adjunct professor at Aalborg University. For many years he has been in close contact with the Danish schools of architecture as lecturer and censor. His ability to communicate visions in a straight forward and catching way has made him a popular lecturer, and lectures at four continents have already been scheduled in 2012.

Louis Becker claims that every project is special and deserves a meaningful design solution as to aesthetics, functions and society. Design and architecture are essential for people’s way of life and their opportunities.

“We always try to ask the questions that open the type of job and to find the answers that create a unique project. Empathy is a method. We listen and learn before we start drawing”, Louis Becker says when explaining how the surroundings, the city, the landscape and the society affect the architecture.

Colleagues, collaborators and clients are invited to a reception at 4 pm. on Friday 20 January 2012 at Henning Larsen Architects, Vesterbrogade 76, 3rd floor, 1620 Copenhagen V.
