The new hospital will cover approx. 135,000 m2 and will be centred on the patient. It should support safe and effective patient care while at the same time integrating state-of-the-art knowledge and technologies in everyday routines.
The competition participants will design their proposal for the ”hospital of the future”, supporting out-patient treatment in preference to hospitalisation where possible. At the same time, the new physical framework should comprise a capacity extension of the intensive care unit and emergency department.
In addition to the buildings, the competition proposals will include a master plan for the area covering a total of approx. 92 hectares. Deadline for submission is January 2012, and in March, the Regional Council will select three projects to proceed to the final negotiation stage.
