The Architecture Committee of the Danish Arts Foundation, curator Minik Rosing and the Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) have selected a group of Greenlandic and Danish architects, who will work closely together to develop visions for the future of Greenland. The result of the collaboration will be exhibited as the official Danish contribution to the Venice Biennale 2012.
Greenland is facing a number of pivotal decisions regarding the future development of the country – decisions which will have significant consequences for the population. Under the title “Future Greenland”, DAC has developed a project with a focus on the challenges and potential arising for the country as the inland ice is melting, substantial raw material resources become available and new businesses and city cultures appear.
In collaboration with the main curator of the project Professor of Geology Minik Rosing and co-curator NORD Architects, the Greenlandic and Danish architects will develop innovative visions for the economic, societal and sustainable development of Greenland – working closely together with a number of additional players, including four Greenlandic municipalities.
