Summer School based on Sustainable Co-creation

The objective of the summer school was to demonstrate in practice how to create real innovation and added value through new cross-disciplinary co-creation. The participants at the summer school, architecture and engineering students, worked intensively for two weeks on solving one of today’s greatest societal challenges: Reducing the energy consumption of the existing building stock.

Signe Kongebro, Manager of Henning Larsen Architects’ Department of Sustainability, and Martin Manthorpe, Director of Strategy, Sales and Business Development at NCC Construction Denmark, are the initiators of the summer school, which brought together architecture and engineering students.

”For us, it is decisive to create sustainable buildings, and Henning Larsen Architects arranges these summer schools to put focus on the subject of green building and give students around the world the opportunity to meet people from other professional disciplines”, says Signe Kongebro.

Henning Larsen Architects has previously arranged a summer school in Damascus with the participation of architecture students from Aalborg University, Technische Universität Berlin and Damascus University. A third summer school is planned to take place in Beirut in 2012 with the participation of students from Damascus University, the University of Balamand, Lebanon, and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
