The project includes 54,000 m2 educational buildings, residential buildings covering a total of 14,000 m2 as well as 7,000 m2 public facilities and a commercial building of 5,000 m2. The majority of the residences will be located in a new tower that will constitute the new landmark of the area. In addition, the project includes a 2-storey underground car park of 30,000 m2.
The idea behind the large teams of architects is for the individual buildings to be divided between different architecture companies to achieve a high degree of diversity – and yet cohesion - in the facade expressions.
The competition is organised as three workshops in June where the four teams of architects should demonstrate strong collaboration skills combined with a clear architectural profile.
The other prequalified teams are: Team B consisting of Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, Christensen & Co Architects, COBE, EFFEKT and Nord Architects; Team C consisting of Rørbæk & Møller Architects, James Carpenter Design Associates Inc., Creo Architects, JDS Architects, Virumgaard Architects and Anders Abraham, and finally Team D – Collage is made up of PLH Architects, CUBO Architects, BBP Architects, DEVE and Holgaard Architects.
