The new hospital will be situated between the university and the motorway and will replace the existing Odense University Hospital. DKK 6.3 billion has been allocated for the project. The first cut will be sod in 2014 and the New OUH is expected to be completed in 2018-2020.
The new Faculty of Health Sciences forms part of the project and will be the connecting link between the hospital and university. The estimated cost of the new Faculty is DKK 900 million.
From the jury’s report: “The project is a distinctive building complex greatly supporting the functional requirements of the hospital. The proposal offers the best solution to a continuous treatment unit and the location of this in relation to the emergency department and clinical clusters. In addition, the project beautifully opens op to the surrounding landscape.”
