The competition will be judged by a 22 member jury, including Siemens' President and CEO Peter Löscher, the Mayor of Munich Christian Ude and the City Councilor for Urban Planning Elisabeth Merk.
“It’s important for us to create a modern work environment for our employees and a lively, open inner-city area for the Munich public. And naturally, the new building should meet the highest standards in sustainability and energy efficiency,” Siemens' President and CEO Peter Löscher says in a statement.
The architectural companies participating in the competition include Allmann Sattler Wappner Architekten, Auer + Weber + Assoziierte, Baumschlager Eberle, Henning Larsen Architects, Hopkins Architects, Hascher Jehle Architektur, Ingenhoven Architects, JSWD Architekten, Léon Wohlhage Wernik Architekten, Rafael de la Hoz Arquitectos, Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and Schneider Schumacher.
Siemens will announce a winner in June and the construction process is expected to commence in the fall of 2012. The antipated year of completion is 2015.
