After three years of activity in the region, Henning Larsen Architects now opens the branch office, Henning Larsen Levant, in the Syrian capital of Damascus. Architect and Associate Partner, Anne Marie Galmstrup, will be Principal of the office and, as of 1 October 2010, Architect Klaus Troldborg will join her as General Manager.
”We are looking forward to expanding our activities in the region,” says Anne Marie Galmstrup, who has been in charge of the design and collaboration process in connection with the Massar Children’s Discovery Centre in Damascus. “The project constitutes a milestone for the region and it is a privilege for the office to be a part of this process.”
“Both Syria and Jordan are developing rapidly in these years and we take a both curious and humble approach to the task of bridging the gap between the cultural heritage and more modern times,” says architect Klaus Troldborg, who has previously been project manager of large scale projects such as the Spiegel Headquarters in Hamburg, the Financial Plaza in the new financial district in Riyadh, Copenhagen Business School in Copenhagen and Rostock University Library.
In addition to the 16,000 m2 Massar Children’s Discovery Centre in Damascus, the office is engaged with developing new competitions, among these most recently the competition for a new opera and culture centre in Aleppo.
